The party's over here

My sister, Dad and Darren were lucky enough to go to Las Vegas to visit some family there. I heard you guys had a lot of fun! I'm a little jealous! Melissa and Miah I am definitely coming to play SOON! They said Atticus was the life of the party... scooting and pointing all over the place!

So Christmas Eve and Day were so much fun! We did our traditional dinner! Which is more and more fun the older Drew and Zach get!

Betsy and I basically just took stupid pictures of each other all day. We took 214 total! Most of them looked like this...

We did have a family juggling time.... It was pretty funny... Were hoping Drew or Nick can show us their magic skills and help us out with some tips! P.S. Nick, trying to juggle gave us a new appreciation for your skills!

Anyhow... I we are very blessed!

MISSING

Who: Sarah Fingerer

Last known sighting: Girls Bible Study Monday December 11th

Presumed to be: Stolen by Brazilian chicken farmers

May be located: By the statue of the goat. It's one of her favorite hang outs.

Seriously if you can see this from Brazil...Or if they have electricity.

DON'T get married in Brazil! We miss you! I miss you! Come back! P.S. Thanks for letting us know your safe!

Seriously Netu...She can't get married there...send her back! You have to learn English and move here. We can't take a 78 hour bus ride with chickens...

Hope you're having fun! LOL... good clean fun!

But seriously...come back... unmarried!

How it all began...

I saw The Nativity Story a few weeks ago and it gave me different or broader perspective on the Christmas story. I went back and read through the story again and again... and was really provoked to think about the big picture...the reality. Each time I read it I get goose bumps thinking about the reality of that moment and what was happening. Read this... see what comes to mind...

Luke 1: 5-56
In the time of Herod king of Judea there was a priest named Zechariah, who belonged to the priestly division of Abijah; his wife Elizabeth was also a descendant of Aaron. Both of them were upright in the sight of God, observing all the Lord's commandments and regulations blamelessly. But they had no children, because Elizabeth was barren; and they were both well along in years.

Once when Zechariah's division was on duty and he was serving as priest before God, he was chosen by lot, according to the custom of the priesthood, to go into the temple of the Lord and burn incense. And when the time for the burning of incense came, all the assembled worshipers were praying outside.

Then an angel of the Lord appeared to him, standing at the right side of the altar of incense. When Zechariah saw him, he was startled and was gripped with fear. But the angel said to him: "Do not be afraid, Zechariah; your prayer has been heard. Your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you are to give him the name John. He will be a joy and delight to you, and many will rejoice because of his birth, for he will be great in the sight of the Lord. He is never to take wine or other fermented drink, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit even from birth. Many of the people of Israel will he bring back to the Lord their God. And he will go on before the Lord, in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers to their children and the disobedient to the wisdom of the righteous—to make ready a people prepared for the Lord."

Zechariah asked the angel, "How can I be sure of this? I am an old man and my wife is well along in years."

The angel answered, "I am Gabriel. I stand in the presence of God, and I have been sent to speak to you and to tell you this good news. And now you will be silent and not able to speak until the day this happens, because you did not believe my words, which will come true at their proper time."

Meanwhile, the people were waiting for Zechariah and wondering why he stayed so long in the temple. When he came out, he could not speak to them. They realized he had seen a vision in the temple, for he kept making signs to them but remained unable to speak.

When his time of service was completed, he returned home. After this his wife Elizabeth became pregnant and for five months remained in seclusion. "The Lord has done this for me," she said. "In these days he has shown his favor and taken away my disgrace among the people."

In the sixth month, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee, to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin's name was Mary. The angel went to her and said, "Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you."

Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be. But the angel said to her, "Do not be afraid, Mary, you have found favor with God. You will be with child and give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever; his kingdom will never end."

"How will this be," Mary asked the angel, "since I am a virgin?"

The angel answered, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God. Even Elizabeth your relative is going to have a child in her old age, and she who was said to be barren is in her sixth month. For nothing is impossible with God."

"I am the Lord's servant," Mary answered. "May it be to me as you have said." Then the angel left her.

At that time Mary got ready and hurried to a town in the hill country of Judea, where she entered Zechariah's home and greeted Elizabeth. When Elizabeth heard Mary's greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. In a loud voice she exclaimed: "Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the child you will bear! But why am I so favored, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? As soon as the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy. Blessed is she who has believed that what the Lord has said to her will be accomplished!"

And Mary said:"My soul glorifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, for he has been mindful of the humble state of his servant. From now on all generations will call me blessed, for the Mighty One has done great things for me— holy is his name. His mercy extends to those who fear him, from generation to generation. He has performed mighty deeds with his arm; he has scattered those who are proud in their inmost thoughts. He has brought down rulers from their thrones but has lifted up the humble. He has filled the hungry with good things but has sent the rich away empty. He has helped his servant Israel, remembering to be merciful to Abraham and his descendants forever, even as he said to our fathers."
Mary stayed with Elizabeth for about three months and then returned home.

God is amazing! He has a plan for EVERYTHING!
And it is really beautiful as it unfolds.
Thank you for this life and the hope
and love you bring to my life.

Girls Bible Study Christmas Party!

This basically sums up the whole night! Dill laughing! Ok... Emily thanks for the pictures! These are Emily's pictures of our party. We had a great time. Thank you so much to the Wathen's who opened up their home, cooked, and put so much effort in to us having a wonderful party.
We roasted smores (mainly Sofia just flung flaming marshmallow's around),

had a gingerbread house decorating contest (which Danica, Ashley, and Vivi won... Chelsea tried but her chimney STANK!)

Let's see... we also had a gift exchange (It is a debate as to who got the best present... Dill got a bird, which I know she'll keep forever cause it means the world to her... Rachel got a child sized grandma wrap... and Jena... oh Jena... she got a forehead full of sparkly body polish! It was amazing!)

Oh... yes... and Karaoke... and the Dill Dance! I'm gonna try and put it on here but I don't know if it will play. Anyhow... here are the pictures.

Armstrongs

God introduced me to the Armstrong family through our Girls Bible Study. They were a great influence on me. I was initially impressed by the fact that the dad (Matthew) would bring Brandy from Los Banos to work with him early Monday morning, then bring her to bible study at 6:30 and wait for her till 8:00 or so to bring her back to Los Banos when we finished. She was there every Monday even though it made for a very long day.

As I got to encounter their whole family they impressed me and inspired me more and more. They had such passion for life and compassion for the people God brought into their path. Their enthusiasm for life and the adventure that it is, inspired me to "live" more. They were the love of each other's life. They enjoyed each other and the life and family they had made together. They had just as much passion for their three beautiful kids! I was so impressed when I had the opportunity to meet each one of them. They are the spitting images of their parents... strong, smart, analytical, passionate, vibrant, funny, loud, generous, compassionate, enthusiastic about the love for God they have and so many other things.

Last Christmas I didn't know how life was about to change. A tragic airplane accident took the lives of Matthew, Sarah, Cody and Casey (The Armstrongs 11 year old cousin). Time stopped. Life stopped. Everyone stopped and looked to God... what were any of us supposed to do? As this year has gone on (even though it feels like life should have just stopped then) God has revealed lessons, inspirations, and character through their lives and the lives of their two beautiful and inspiring daughters that are still here.

I have thought about this a lot lately... what would they want us to do? What would they do if they were still here? What can I do to celebrate the people that they were... the amazing character that God gave to just them? I think they would want us to celebrate life! And I'm pretty sure Cody would want The Incredibles at the party!

I have also been thinking about the lessons from my life. Is my life everyday inspiring and loving people? Am I pointing them to God by glorifying Him in everything I do? Life is so short and without knowing what today brings...if I was gone today...would I have shown the people around me the love and hope that God has for them? I hope so and I will do what I can today...and tomorrow...and the next day...and forever...until there is no more...to do just that! God IS enough! Can you say the same?

I also just want the Girls to know how blessed I am to be a part of their lives. Your parents would be so proud of the women that you are becoming! YOU have changed my life! I love you! I don't think I could love you more if you were my own flesh and blood! I love having the opportunity to see each day how God is working in and through you. I love your sense of humor, perseverance, strength in God, excitement for life, and how you carry on and celebrate those characteristics that were unique to your family. I know you will and see you carrying on the passions of your parents! If I get to be a parent hope that my kids love our family and the parents we are as much as you love your family! Your parents did a great job!

I know...it's been a while...

It seems like so long since I've checked in. Thanksgiving was a lot of fun. We went to Betsy and Darren's for Thanksgiving dinner. We all pitched in on the food and Betsy and my mom did a great job of decorating. It made it a really special day for all of us. It's always fun and interesting when your family grows and new traditions are started.

Last week I took a class to get my insurance license. All day...everyday...from Monday... all the way through Saturday. I was exhausted! I forgot how much work school was!!!! I have a new appreciation for all of you guys who sit in class and listen to boring teachers talk about boring subjects while some crazy person in the very front row so eager to... well...there are many reasons their probably eager... most of which I won't type on here. Anyhow... I digress... while some crazy person asks retarded questions about stuff you don't need to know and then goes into a story about how their step mom's brother's grandpa had a ... blah...blah... blah.... CRAZY PEOPLE! So needless to say it was a week full of interesting lessons.

God is doing so many things right now that I can see. He is moving in a lot of areas that are very important to me and that I pray for a lot. As I go through the different emotions that these situations bring I am finding a new hope, joy, patience, reliance, and humor. He has blessed me with being able to be a part of things I could never have imagined. I had one of the greatest privileges on Sunday morning. Our beautiful Danica lead worship all on her own for the youth group this week. Which in and of itself was a beautiful moment. However, God... in His beauty... gave Danica's family this week the gift of a beautiful little baby girl named Halle! So as I stood there so amazed by the visible talents God has given Danica and the way people were lead into worship by her gifts, I looked back and saw Danica's mom cradling her not-even-one-week-old-baby in her arms with tears in her eyes and gracefully rolling down her cheeks. I asked Kathleen (Danica's mom) how this moment felt and she said "I could just explode!" It was one of the most beautiful moments that I have gotten to see. Halle has a so many blessing already! Two beautiful sisters to look up to an model herself after! What a blessing sisters are... especially those who help us grow and walk closer with God! Welcome to the world Halle... we can't wait to see what God has planned for you! You will be in our prayers!

Thankfullness

I have been thinking a lot lately about how grateful I am. I'm not sure that the perception of me is that I am grateful. And I do want that to be how people perceive me, because I am. I REALLY am. God has blessed me in so many different ways with so many people, things, and gifts just for me. From the kids in the youth group...who each bless me and show me so much about God's character. To my family who loves me unconditionally and is always there to help in anyway they know how.

I am thankful for the house, car, and money God provides me with to do what I do everyday...for me and for others. I am grateful for the friends He has given me who teach me, make me laugh, encourage me, and have a presence in my life. Each relationship He has given me, each person He puts in my life, teaches me something different. I love that. I love that He is so big that He can show me something different in every person and situation, everyday. When I think about that...that is HUGE! Life can NEVER get boring! If it is I am missing HIM! I am thankful that He is that kind of God!

Basically...I LOVE God! I LOVE what He is and how He has planned my life and I can't wait to see what He brings next. THANK YOU!

Encounter Need!

Encounter is looking for a couple of things... one is places to hold events (i.e. parks, buildings, warehouses, parking lots, etc.). It may be an art show, service, party, bbq...basically it could be anything. It also could be for a one time event or more, anywhere in the city, especially downtown.

Any donation that would help us reach our community as a community of believers would be welcomed. This is a passion of this service, so anything that God might have blessed you with (space, contacts, financial, etc.) that you would like to share with us, would be very welcomed!

So last night...

At girls bible study we had a couple of things that really meant a lot to me. One is that Brittany came! I was so glad to see her there and for her to be a part of things! She is amazing! (She'll fit right in with all of you amazing girls!)

Second, is that I was supper impressed that God has moved in so many of your hearts and inspired you to DO SOMETHING! That is amazing! From showing kindness to your families, to people at school and the world.

God never ceases to show me His beauty, power, and sense of humor through all of you guys! I am so blessed to have you in my life. You are a gift to me!

You only have one life...DO SOMETHING!

Last night we talked about your ONE LIFE and what you are going to do with it. So today is a new day and I want to know what you did today! And what ideas you have for getting involved. What has God showed you and opened your eyes to today?

My dad walking Betsy down the aisle. (p.s. Michele did the flowers. Aren't they amazing!)

My dad and sister's dance. My sister and I have both agreed to have Home, Home on the range played for our father/daughter dance! Of course, my dad didn't know this and was really surprised that we chose that song!

Question...

This question was brought to my attention yesterday...what do you do when you don't personally agree with the lifestyle of the person speaking (preaching, teaching)? What do you guys think?

Wedding Slideshow

If you want to see the slideshow for the wedding... go to www.everettphotography.com , weddings, storybook slideshow, Betsy & Darren Myers.

So proud...

I had a really joyful time last night at the worship night! I wanted to let three people in particular know how proud I am of them. One is Jena... you've come so far. And I am so glad to see you sharing your joy with the people around you who don't know that hope. I am also proud because we have talked many times about keeping your eyes open to the opportunities God gives you throughout the day. And you did, he showed it to you, you took it, and have been running with it. The feeling you have now is one you need to remember! It is an amazing feeling to have that kind of joy that I saw in you last night! Amazing!

Second is Katie... she took a step last night toward realizing her confidence is in who she is as a child of God. Who He made her. She made a choice last night to stand in the confidence of God and not run away from her problems. Hopefully it was the first in many joyful steps to realizing the potential and who you can be and what you can be used for. I am so proud of you for taking that stand! Congratulations!

Third is Danica... Last night she took a step towards the worship leader God has planted in her by singing. She has an amazing voice and God has definitely given her the gift of music. Keep taking those steps! You are amazing and I can't wait to see how God uses these talents in your life.

P.S. Don't forget to check out the nccyouth.blogspot.com (the link is on this page). I have been putting the newsletter and Hopper's sermon notes (transformers and Hosea)

Show me your hand...

So last night we talked about Esther. She is a unique individual. She didn't intend to be great, but God put her in great circumstances and she rose to the occasion and stepped out on faith in God's plan and purpose for her circumstances. I also love the story of Esther because I get to see God's justice. It has been a very important lesson in my life to give up on being angry at or trying to fix (make right) people or situations who have wronged me (or someone I care about) or that I think are unfair or unjust or just plain wrong. God has a handle on it... just look at Haman! He is the perfect example of God's justice (and to me it is kind of funny).

These are just a few of the reasons I love Esther. Leave a comment and let me know what you learned/thought/any sort of comment really from the book of Esther. For next Monday read about Dorcas (Acts 9: 36-42).

Have a great day!

P.S. 21 girls last night! That is amazing! And from Channelle, Ashley and Me...we love you all! Everyone of you has a great purpose for being part of this body and when you are not there...we miss you! (Mallori, Sofia, Kim, Mary, Emily)

P.S.S. Buchanan girls... see you Thursday, by the front office, TACO'S (no lettuce)!

P.S.S.S. This Friday night is Scary Movie night...and a little work on our "Trunk or Treat" project. (movie won't be too scary!) 7:00 at my house!

Danica and C28

Side note... I would like to bring your attention to our newest bloggers Jena and Danica! Also I am working on an NCC one.
Second, C28 is a store that sells Christian clothing and accessories, I think you guys would love it. The sticker I have on the back of my car is from there. They have some fun stuff... so I put the link on the side of this page so you could check it out.
Remember Read Esther! See you tonight!

We saw Stevie Wonder!!!!!!!! and... India Arie!!!!!!!!

God is amazing! That is all I have to say. I accidentally bought 2 tickets (good tickets...Orchestra) to the India Arie concert on Friday night. I was having a hard time figuring out who to have go with me...and then...Channelle popped into my brain (which I'm sure was God!) . So I asked if she wanted to go and she said yes and both of us were really pumped to see India Arie. Because as you know...she is AMAZING! The concert was in Beverly Hills, so we drove down on Friday afternoon, got there in perfect time, went in, found our seats and were having a great time! It just was a very inspiring night! We danced (yes, I know, I don't dance...but I did! And it was so fun!). And as we are dancing and singing and so excited to be there...India starts singing Just the Two of Us. And we hear the harmonica...she freaks out and goes over to the side of the stage (and as she's doing this the girl next to Channelle is saying "It's Stevie Wonder! It's Stevie Wonder!")... and sure enough...IT WAS! We of course panicked and about had a heart attack! He sang that song and Redemption Song (by Bob Marley) with her! It was like the cherry on top! We got back in the car and pretty much since Friday night have been going "We saw Stevie Wonder" About 8000 times to whoever would listen. It was a great high! Amazing night! And a blessing I know was meant for us to have! Thank you God! To you be the Glory! I'll post some of the 3 pictures we took when we get them! Thanks again Channelle for being my date!

When I say I'm a Christian...

Emily sent this to me and I really liked it. So I thought I would post it for all of you to read:

When I say... "I am a Christian" I'm not shouting "I'm clean livin."
I'm whispering "I was lost," Now I'm found and forgiven.

When I say..."I am a Christian" I don't speak of this with pride.
I'm confessing that I stumble and need CHRIST to be my guide.

When I say... "I am a Christian" I'm not trying to be strong.
I'm professing that I'm weak and need HIS strength to carry on.

When I say... "I am a Christian" I'm not bragging of success.
I'm admitting I have failed and need God to clean my mess.

When I say... "I am a Christian" I'm not claiming to be perfect.
My flaws are far too visible but, God believes I am worth it.

When I say... "I am a Christian" I still feel the sting of pain.
I have my share of heartaches So I call upon His name.

When I say... "I am a Christian" I'm not holier than thou.
I'm just a simple sinner who received God's good grace, somehow.

"MOST"

Ok you NCC Youth ladies...I want to know what you thought of the movie last night? Did it affect any of you? I woke up this morning and was praying...when I listened...I was reminded of the movie last night. I thought how amazing to have a picture like that to give me a glimmer of what Jesus did for me. I thought...today is for HIM...today is a new start...today should be lived to the fullest with love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, full of faith, self-control, and gentleness. Can I do that? I hope so...at least today I am going to spend the day trying. And hopefully the next, and the next, and the next...

I love you girls! Let me know (by leaving a comment if you can) about what you thought. That way we can all learn from each other.

Betsy & Darren's Wedding

So this weekend was Betsy's wedding. Her and Darren are finally married and happily enjoying their honeymoon in Costa Rica! They got there safe and are having a great time. I will put some pictures of the wedding on here when I get them. If you'd like to look...Some will be at www.everettphotography.com, click on ordering, Myers Wedding, Password is 101306.

I had a great time having family here and getting to have them participate in this moment for our family was amazing! I love them all! I especially enjoy spending time with my cousins! They are all so amazing and I love and appreciate them so much more now that we are older. God has blessed our family with some interesting, amazing, and inspiring people and I am very thankful for that!

I love my sister more than I could ever express and I am so excited for this blessing in her life and the new chapter we are all starting. She will always be my little sister though and I will always have that heart for her! Her sense of humor and personality are very much that of a little sister, and I love our moments of stupidity such as this picture...Where Betsy turned over and asked if she could write on my nose...Just for fun! I love you!

New Attempt

Ok...so this is new...it's my attempt to keep up with technology, without creating a myspace!
